HRH CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE MESSAGE FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 8 MARCH
Belgrade, 5 March 2010 – For International Women’s Day 8 March I would like to extend my congratulations to all the women of Serbia .
In these difficult times for our country and our society, we have to be aware of our responsibilities as women in Serbia , and to continue our struggle to preserve our families, and to realize a better and a happier future for our children and our country.
Women have always been the cohesion factor in our society, a silent majority that has supported progress and change. From our experience we can tell that women very often show better comprehension of social problems and injustices, and better understanding of the problems of everyday life. Therefore, we must succeed in equal representation of women in all segments of society, and especially in places where the most important decisions regarding the future have been made.
My Foundation has initiated programmes of cervical cancer prevention and breast cancer prevention, focused on helping two of the Serbia ’s major health problems regarding women. I would like to make an appeal to all our women today, to help me by taking better care of their health and by bringing awareness about these terrible diseases.
Once again, I would like to extend my congratulations to all the women of Serbia and use this opportunity to express my admiration for their courage and endurance that they have shown during very difficult times.
