HENK TEN CATE FOR CHELSEA?
Ajax Manager Henk Ten Cate has just confirmed that Chelsea has offered him to be Manager Assistant to Grant.
It is important to review the life and career of Henk Ten Cate to see why Chelsea chose him.
Henk Ten Cate was born in Amsterdam Netherlands in 1954 and started his football career in FC Rheden as an amateur before becoming a professional player with Go Ahead Eagles.
During his Professional Career from 1979-1988, he played with Go Ahead Eagles, Edmonton Drillers, Telstar, and SC Heracles. His record of goals in appearances were 34 goals in 202 appearances.
After 1988, he went into the position of being Manager [as well as Assistant Manager] with Go Ahead Eagles, SC Heracles, FC Rheden, Sparta Rotterdam, Vitesse, NAC Breda, FC Barcelona, MTK Hungaria FC, KFC Uerdingen 05, and Ajax.
While he was assistant at Barcelona, he was responsible for producing a form of attacking football which gave Barcelona a piece of glory at the Champions League in 2006.
In Ajax, he won a Dutch Cup and two Dutch Super Cups for Ajax. For this and much more, Chelsea including Abramovich is talking about Cate. At the present time, Cate has neither stated whether he will accept or refuse. Cate also considers Grant a temporary figure.
Is there a future manager at Chelsea in the making or will there be a three tiered system? Only time will tell.
