Ricardo Carvalho was examined by the Portuguese National Team Doctor after suffering a back injury during the Chelsea-Everton Game.
The results of the Physician are in and Carbalho will not be able to play for Portugal in the Euro 2008 Qualifiers against Armenia and Finland. It could also mean some difficulty for Chelsea in maintaining momentum.
While Chelsea and Portugal will eventually recover, there are always two questions in my mind. How does a football player balance his loyalty to country and team? How can such loyalties be balanced without threatening the football player’s health? Maybe those who are on the other side of the pond could find an answer to Roberto’s Question.
