I write in response to those who say that Reality TV is the reality of life in the world. Reality TV does not reflect the world except in the eyes of those who participate in it. Reality TV is also a waste of the talent of those who write the scripts for such trash and receive the lowest salary.

 

Let us start with Big Brother in England with Shilpa Shetty and her being subjected to taunts by Jade Goody, Jo’O Meara, Danielle Lloyd, and Jack Tweed. It was a scene which showed people at their worst and damaged the reputation of Channel 4 of England in the eyes of the world. Having seen Jade Goody, Jo’O Meara, Danielle Lloyd, and Jack Tweed mocking Shilpa Shetty for being Indian was racist and a disgrace. I still think Jade Goody, Jo’O Meara, Danielle Lloyd, and Jack Tweed got off too easy. Jade Goody, Jo’O Meara, Danielle Lloyd, and Jack Tweed [as well as the producers of Big Brother deserved a pie in the face and cancellation of the show.

 

It is not fair to talk about England without talking about the USA. Reality TV programmes such as Wife Swapping encourages adultery. The Simple Life of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie encourage people to be total idiots. Survivor [which at one time divided people amongst their ethnic groups] were programmes which inflamed the ethnic and racial tensions that exist in America.In fact, it is these programmes that have accentuated the moral decline in Western Society including the USA directly and/or indirectly.

 

What do the Executives say about these accusations. The Television Moguls say that «all of this is fun and games» while counting their money. They could care less.

 

It is because of Reality TV that the Islamic World has been able to win the hearts and minds of people. Many of the TV Programmes in the Islamic World transmitted in English via Satellite TV have shown an alternative to Reality TV with words of wisdom, family oriented entertainment, and news that informs. I know many people in America who have turned off Television in America and turned on to Press TV, PTV, and Al Jazeera.

 

 

China, India and Vietnam [with other TV Stations in Asia] have had family oriented entertainment as an alternative to the banality of Western Private TV. CCTV, CRI, VOV, as well as Merinews have also served as alternatives to a Western Society that has turned off God and Spiritual Beings in favour of the latest scandals from Reality TV and Hollywood.

 

The Baltic States [Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania], Romania [via Radio Romania International], Portugal [via Portuguese Radio and Television, and Russia [with the Voice Of Russia] is also transmitting Radio and TV programmes of a Pro Family Nature with specials on the family, Orthodox Christmas, and musical programmes. Many people with satellite, Internet, and Shortwave Radios can listen to and appreciate these programmes.

 

Not all is lost, The Writers Guild of America [at least some of their members] has complained about having to «write trash TV» and «sacrifice their dignity for a low salary». This is not only unfair economically for these writers but is a waste of their talent.

 

The best thing that could happen is for people to turn off the TV Set so that the Executives could remove Reality TV. If not, the alternatives seem much better.
