Outright Libertarians Endorses Phillies
Jan 16. The Executive Committee of Outright Libertarians today endorsed George Phillies for the 2008 Libertarian Party Presidential Nomination. Outright Libertarians is the country’s most influential LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) Libertarian organization.
«From his interview in The Advocate magazine, to his one-liner response to a marriage equality question at a debate in socially conservative Fresno, California — ‘We’ve already solved that problem in Massachusetts’ — we can tell that Dr. Phillies would never try to rationalize anti-LGBT bigotry as a way to ‘grow’ the Libertarian Party,» said Outright Libertarians chairperson Rob Power. «Outright Libertarians proudly supports George Phillies and calls on all of our members and allies to attend the Libertarian National Convention in Denver this May and cast their nominating vote for Dr. Phillies.»
Phillies also had a perfect score on Outright Libertarians’ issues scorecard.
«I am greatly honored to receive the Outright Libertarians endorsement,» Phillies said. «Historically, Outright Libertarians has waited until after our nominating convention, and then endorsed the nominee. I am indeed grateful to receive their endorsement during the nominating campaign.»
Outright Libertarians listed a series of reasons for choosing Phillies, namely he was the only Libertarian with a perfect score on their «issues scorecard» who
*is actively campaigning (for himself, not for some major-party candidate)
*has a truly national campaign
*is receiving media attention (including magazines and television).
*has continued to receive FEC-reportable campaign contributions better than his opponents.
