Mia Hamm: The Greatest Soccer [Football] Player in North

Mia Hamm is the greatest ever Soccer [Football] player from North America because of the fact that she is one of the people who helped United Soccer make tremendous progress to where it is at the present time. Mia Hamm is also a humanitarian with her own foundation dedicated to help those who need bone marrow transplant and increasing the amount of opportunities for young women in sports. Mia Hamm started her foundation in 1999 as a response to the death of her adoptive brother to Aplastic Anemia.Mia Hamm came into the world on St Patrick’s Day [seventeenth of March] 1972 in Selma, Alabama and showed promise in the soccer field at the tender age of five. Her activities in her high schools in Texas and Virginia [after leaving Alabama] resulted in her being selected by the United States National Soccer [Football] Team to play forward at the age of fifteen in the year 1987. Even though she played for the United States National Team, she went to college and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. During her period at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina, she was an All American Conference Player, Atlantic Coast Conference Player, NCAA Champion Player, and ACC Female Athlete of the Year.

The period of Mia Hamm with Julie Fouty, and Joy Fawcett was the initiation of a renascence of the United States Women’s Soccer [Football] Team. During this period, Mia Hamm scored 158 goals within 275 appearances, became the youngest player [at age 19] to win the FIFA Women’s’ World Cup in 1991. Unfortunately, many good things have to come to an end and one of them was the golden era of Mia Hamm from 1987 to 2004. Mia Hamm announced that she was retiring from soccer [football] in order to concentrate on establishing a family with her new husband Norma Garciaparra. Mia Hamm wanted her marriage to work this time as her first marriage ended in a divorce due to lack of time. Mia Hamm also wanted to concentrate on her foundation, and to help others with Soccer [Football] Games dedicated to helping those who are less fortunate.

It is for this reason and more that Mia Hamm is the greatest ever soccer [football] player in North America.
