George Phillies for President 2008
Portland, Oregon. March 11 — Today, Wes Wagner, former chair of the Libertarian Party of Oregon, announced his formal endorsement of George Phillies as the Libertarian Party’s nominee for the Presidential election in November in an open letter to delegates:
To the delegates of the 2008 Libertarian Party National Convention,
Our country faces great challenges, and so does our party. This is the
most critical crisis point I have seen for our nation in the course of
my entire life, and also the time when the electorate and free thinking
people need an a reasonable alternative the most. Although many people
may believe that a high profile, celebrity or charismatic demagogue
would facilitate electoral success — I am quite convinced that at this
time we a genuine and honest teacher who can bring forward new ideas to
the American people.
Because of that, and his continued dedication and promotion of ballot
access and candidate development, I wholeheartedly endorse George
Phillies to be our party nominee to be the next president of the United
States of America.
For several years I have known George and his dedication to the positive
development of the Libertarian Party and his willingness to challenge
people, both internally and externally, to live up to our ideals. He has
been tireless in his campaign and willing to invest and sacrifice a
great deal of personal wealth and time for our cause and benefit. It is
no doubt a certainty, if his efforts earn him the party nomination, that
he will have the dedication to continue and run a solid campaign which
will benefit both the party and the movement.
Further, George is also a man willing to stand toe-to-toe with people
who promote corruption and call them out for their misdeeds. Clearly
such an individual is needed at this time, when our «duly elected
government» is performing some of their most unforgivable and egregious
acts.
I would therefore urge all my fellow delegates to make a prudent
decision and nominate a man who has proven himself as an educator and a
tireless advocate for our cause to represent us for the office of
President of the United States.
Sincerely,
Wes Wagner
