Enough with Empty Chair Charlie Crist
-In the first month and a half of 2008, Governor Crist took off more week days than he worked – showing up less than 50% of the time. [Governor’s Public Schedule, Jan. 1-Feb. 13, 2008]
-Charlie Crist relentlessly attacked his Democratic opponent in 2006, Jim Davis, by saying “Jim, as you know, you can’t govern from an empty chair.” [Gubernatorial Debate 10/24/06] The accompanying ad campaign should offer enough proof that Charlie’s memory can’t be that bad. We need to hold him to the standard he once claimed he would exhibit.
-Another famous Republican thought he could effectively govern while taking extended hiatus trips. We all saw just what George Bush cooked up while tending to his Texas ranch: a disastrous recession, the never ending war in Iraq, and a full slate of domestic and international problems that don’t look to be settled anytime soon.
-Right now, Florida is facing serious problems in most aspects of our society. This full-fledged Republican Recession requires hard work and solutions – not rhetoric. What has Governor Crist offered in terms of relief to our insurance, housing and recession woes? Where will he direct us in regards to education, healthcare and the immediate state budget crunch? As we scream for solutions, all Governor Crist offers are express travels on the John McCain tour.
The Florida Democratic Party has picked up nine house seats in the State Legislature and dozen of other local municipal elections. Democrats now seem to be the clear pick as the people’s preference.
