THAKSIN AND ERIKSSON

THAKSIN AND ERIKSSON

It has come to the attention of the football world that Thaksin Shinawatra is not happy with the current Manchester City Season and wants to replace Eriksson with Scolari. Thaksin Shinawatra has replied by saying: “I do not know Scolari”

While Thaksin Shinawatra was not as we feared with regards to Manchester City, he should remember that Sven Goren Eriksson came to Manchester City as the club was being threatened with relegation in the previous season. Even though Manchester City has slipped to eighth place after a great start to the season, it would be a mistake if Thaksin Shinawatra were to remove Sven Goren Eriksson.

Sven Goren Eriksson may not be a miracle worker but he possesses intricate knowledge of English Football and has been an asset to England and Manchester City.  I took the liberty to conduct a poll concerning Thaksin Shinawatra, Sven Goren Eriksson, and Manchester City. The results of the poll revealed that seventy seven percent of the people surveyed want Sven Goren Eriksson to remain as Manager of Manchester City compared with twelve percent who think that this is a publicity stunt, and eleven percent who favours his removal. It would be a grave mistake for Thaksin Shinawatra to decide that he could just simply ignore the wishes of seventy seven percent of the people of Manchester City [according to this recent poll]. If Thaksin Shinawatra wants to do Manchester City a favour, he would keep Sven Goren Eriksson as Manager and bring new players. Thaksin Shinawatra has the money so he can afford the players.

While I was opposed to Thaksin Shinawatra purchasing Manchester City, I was willing to give him a chance. It seemed that everything was great especially when he declared [upon his visit to Thailand] that he will concentrate on family, charity, and Manchester City. The news [regardless of whether it is true or not] has just reinforced my attitude towards Thaksin Shinawatra. The fact that he never responded to requests for interviews just reinforces the attitude. While football [soccer] has been looked upon as a money making machine, the human factor of how a team functions must be taken into consideration. Thaksin Shinawatra has just simply proved [if he fires Eriksson] that he could care less about the team and wants immediate results. It is not too late for Manchester City to wake up and see this reality.
