According to The Times in South Africa, SATAWU [South Africa Transport and Allied Workers Union] refuse to unload the Chinese Ship An Jue Yiang and wants the ship to return to China. This is in defiance of the South African Government and its position of noninterference with the shipment. The SA Institute of Race Relations have also stated that it will be «unconscionable for South Africa to allow an arms consigment through its borders en route to Zimbabwe. If the shipment went ahead, South Africa’s culpability in the Zimbabwe Crisis would then be without question».
