The President of Zambia Levi Mwanawasa has urged African countries that are close to or bordering Zimbabwe to prohibit the landing of the Chinese Ship An Yie Jiang in their territorial waters. Mr. Mwanawasa said that «China can play a role in Zimbabwe without arms». Zimbabwean [Mugabe] Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa commented: «I don’t understand all this hullaboo about a ship».

Namibia is offering to allow the An Yie Jiang [the Chinese Ship] with arms for Zimbabwe to use its territory to land the boat. The Namibian Government is willing to unload the cargo and transport it to Zimbabwe.
