After reading about the WGA and American Idol saga on both webpages, I have decided to write about it. Before continuing, it must be remembered that the WGA represents the Writer’s Guild of America with both sides being West and East for USA. American Idol has been one of many Reality TV Shows that have appeared within the last few years.

The WGA [which launched a strike against TV Networks] in order to protest the unfair treatment of screen writers have decided to launch a campaign to expose the reality of Reality TV. Reality TV is nothing more than fiction created by writers who have no representation in Unions and are underpaid. Personally, Reality TV is Junk TV that craves on the worst of human nature. This has been witnessed on the British Reality TV Show Series called Big Brother.

Who cannot forget how many stars of this Reality TV Show called Big Brother made racial and ethnic remarks against an artist whose name was Shilpa Shetty on the basis of here origins? It appears that artists and others in Reality TV Shows are not the only ones who are mistreated. It is the writers. I am writing as a writer to protest this injustice against Screen Writers by American Idol and other Reality TV Shows that waste valuable time and digital material.

I support the humble and oppressed writers in the Reality TV Realms who yearn for freedom to be paid, freedom to have their work treated with dignity, and to be recognized for their talent. It is for this reason that I support the WGA [Writers Guild of America] in their struggle for equal treatment for my fellow writers. I say this with the following statement: More power to the WGA in their struggle for the dignity of the writers in Reality TV Shows such as American Idol and less power to the Simons and Paula Abduls who do almost nothing if it is not scripted.

I would also like to take the time to make comments on the Icelandic Singer Bjork. It is surreal that Bjork talks about «human rights» but was in a Reality TV Show. After all, Reality TV Shows violate the human rights of writers such as a decent salary and dignity while writing. If Bjork was so concerned about human rights, she would unite with the Writers Guild of America and ask that the human rights of writers be respected by Hollywood and the executives who create Reality TV.
