Haier: The Wave of the Future

In this increasing era of globalization, there are people who make judgments against China and its products based on Neo Colonialist and Neo Racist Ideas that have no place in the Twenty First Century. We are hearing information about how products are made in China and how some of the information has been misleading. In my visit to China, I was a witness to how products were being made. I also compared it to the products being made in the United States of America under the current conditions. In the United States of America of the 1960’s and 1970’s, corrupt labour unions and management would determine how a worker or an employee would work on a product and bleed the worker dry and replace him or her with a new worker. The same applies to those who attempt to do business in America. Depending on the state, some states were good for business such as Florida while others such as Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Pennsylvania were terrible for business. The result was that old time management and old time labour unions gave way to a new reality, managements that thought logically. These new forms of managers either moved to the Southern United States, China, Vietnam, or Central America. Others who could not do so would source their products from China.

The reason for sourcing products from China is simple. Most of them are durable, and of good quality. I have many products from China including a Philips Electric Razor that runs on batteries. I bought it in China and since then has been my constant companion when it comes to shaving and looking at electronic products. My Philips Electric Razor is also durable and of good quality. Another reason for sourcing products from China can be appreciated in the Haier Factories.

Haier is one of the manufacturers of refrigerators as well as laptop and other electronic products. Haier is the official business in electronics and refrigerators in the Beijing Olympics. Haier [in a break with traditional companies] believes that the customer is number one and deserves to be treated as an individual. Haier has a way of bending over backwards to please the customer. Haier is the only company that has factories in the United States, Cuba, Iran, Pakistan. Haier has been responsible for increasing the opportunities for jobs in South Carolina and Florida. In fact, Haier has helped decrease unemployement rates in South Carolina and Florida with happy customers, happy workers, with a management that treats its employees like family. Haier is a company that deserves to be mentioned as an example of how sourcing products from China is beneficial to the world.
