I. Hypocrisy of Human Rights
I have read more news about the decision of The People?s Republic of China not to allow Joey Cheek to play in the Beijing Olympics. The article which was written by Chris Chase on the Yahoo Webpage is in need of certain clarifications. While I respect Joey Cheek as an athlete and Chris Chase as a sportswriter, I cannot sit back and allow them to use politics as a vehicle for sports. The majority of the people who talk about human rights elsewhere are blind to the violations of human rights in their home country.
At the time this article was written, the State of Texas has executed a Mexican National whose name is Jose Medellin. Jose Medellin was convicted of killing two adolescents [which is a reprehensible crime] without the right of the Mexican Consulate in the USA to visit him [which is also reprehensible and a clear violation of Convention of Vienna and the International Court of which America belongs to].
In fact; Joey Cheek should tell Harvard University the truth and sue them to respect his human rights instead of blaming China. [Joey Cheek was denied once admission to Harvard University even though he had a perfect score on the College Entrance Examinations in the United States of America. In fact, Harvard University received a letter from Dan Wetzel who is a Yahoo Sports Writer concerning this violation of human rights]. It is this majority of people who talk about human rights that try to damage the sporting aspect of the Beijing Olympics 2008. The People’s Republic of China did the right thing in revoking the visa of Joey Cheek. Chris Chase cannot write about human rights and ignore violations within the USA.
In other news, Bush [US President] has decided to lecture China about human rights in Bangkok, Thailand. I have to tell Mr. Bush the following. I may be a US Citizen but you nor the Republicans and Democrats who misgovern America represent me. Mr. Bush has no right to talk about human rights when the State of Texas executed Jose Medellin in violation of the Convention of Vienna and the International Court. Jose Medellin may have killed two adolescents but he was denied the right of a member of the Mexican Consulate in America to visit him. Mr. Bush cannot speak about human rights when the Republicans and Democrats have denied the Libertarians and Greens an opportunity to campaign on an equal footing. In fact, the State of Ohio nullified 57,000 signatures from the Libertarian Party during the 2004 Elections. Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, and other states has been the scene of Republicans and Democrats denying the right of other political parties to participate in debates.
Mr. Bush: instead of talking about human rights [which you do not practice] talk about sports or how sports are a unifying factor. Unfortunately, you are not a unifier. Please do not harp about Joey Cheek when probably you do not practice human rights.
II. US Olympic Team Wearing Masks?
It has also come to my attention about the United States Olympic Team arriving in Beijing, China wearing masks. It appears that they have been misinformed by the US Mainstream Media about the air in Beijing. Most of the big cities in the world have problems with air. In fact, I did not see smog or feel any problems related to the air in Beijing. My lungs were clear as well and the air was clear. I suffer from problems related to allergies and they disappeared after arriving in the People?s Republic of China. Many times, the sun would rise early in the morning and could be appreciated.
It appears that the media in many countries in the West including the United States of America have become obsessed with clean air and it is admirable. While I respect the right of the US Olympic Team to wear masks, the question posed would be what would happen if the Olympics were held in the United States of America and Olympic Teams and Tourists from other countries started wearing masks? The US Mainstream Media would be inventing lies and statements about being victims of all forms of abuse.
All of humanity comes from dust, germs, bacteria, and viruses. When we die, we revert to dust, germs, bacteria, and viruses. PS: The US Olympic Team has issued an apology for wearing masks.
III. Bulgarian Flag Raised in Olympic Village
According to reports from Radio Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Olympic Team raised the flag of their nation in the Olympic Village. The bearer of the flag during the Olympic Opening Ceremony will be Petar Stoichev who is an eight time swimming marathon champion. I also heard this news while listening to Radio Bulgaria on my shortwave radio.
IV. Amanda Beard and Animal Rights
Many people in Miami Florida have been talking about the member of the US Olympic Swimming Team. Amanda Beard has decided to participate in a commercial by PETA [Persons for Ethical Treatment of Animals]. It is a commercial which is controversial since people appear naked to protest against the use of fur. The people of Miami Florida and the United States of America are divided about this commercial since Amanda Beard represents the United States of America in the US Olympic Swimming Team.
The supporters of Amanda Beard find the commercial as an expression of freedom and are hoping that the conglomerates and stars such as Jennifer Lopez would stop using fur. The detractors consider it improper and degrading for a representative of the US Olympic Swimming Team to do a commercial without any clothes.
PETA is also famous for the controversy of throwing pies in the faces of executives and artists who refuse to give up fur. Among the PETA Victims has been Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour [two times], Oscar De La Renta, and Miss Rodeo America 2000.
Many people are asking if this is the type of freedom and human rights that Amanda Beard wants to promote or is she doing this for money. I am not talking about opinions, I am just reporting. Again, good luck in the Olympics.
