China, USA, and Republic of Korea: Big Winners in the Beijing Olympics

I am listening to the Beijing Olympics of 2008 via CRI [China Radio International] English on the internet and on the shortwave radio. I am also making visits to the CRI English Website to check on my initial predictions of The People’s Republic of China, the United States of America, and the Republic of Korea [otherwise known as South Korea] winning the most medals. It appears that at the present time on the 13th of August 2008 at 2120 hours: China has seventeen gold medals, five silver medals, and five bronze medals which equal twenty seven medals won. The United States of America has won ten gold medals, eight silver medals, and eleven bronze medals which would be a total of twenty nine medals. The Republic of Korea [South Korea] has six gold medals, six silver medals, and one bronze medal which equal thirteen.

The People’s Republic of China has made an impressive showing with its Women’s Gymnastics Team Winning their Olympic Gold. This was the first Olympic Gold won by the Chinese Women’s Gymnastic Team. Chang Yongxiang won the First Olympic Silver Medal in Wrestling while Liao Hui won the Gold Medal in the Olympics Male 69 kg. Weightlifting Competition by 348 kg which was ten points more than the French Weightlifter Vencelas Dabaya-Tientcheu. Wang Feng and Qin Kai won the Gold Medal in the Men’s 3m synchronized springboard. One of the famous boxers in China whose name is Zou Shiming has made some advances in his struggle for a gold medal by defeating his opponent from Venezuela Eduard Bermudez Salas by using fast movements, quick moves, and accurate punches that would have made Muhammad Ali very proud.

The United States of America is another country that cannot be underestimated. Even though Amy Tryon was instrumental in disgracing the United States Equestrian Olympic Team with her disqualification, there are people and teams that have won the most medals or at least the publicity. Who cannot forget the USA defeating Angola in Men’s Basketball 97-76? One of the most impressive feats in Olympic History has been the victory of Michael Phelps in Swimming. The Water Cube [where the events have been taking place] has been a place of good luck for Michael Phelps. Michael Phelps is the twenty first century of King Midas. King Midas in ancient Greek Mythology was supposedly the king whose touch turned everything into gold. It appears that Michael Phelps is the United States Swimming Equivalent because every event he has participated in has turned into a Gold Medal. Michael Phelps currently has five gold medals and maybe named the Olympian. Many people in Miami Florida are cheering the victory of Michael Phelps as a way of restoring happiness to a place and country that sorely needs it.

The Republic of Korea [also known as South Korea] has been behind the People’s Republic of China and the United States of America in acquiring the most medals. CRI English and KBS World [KBS are the initials for the Korean Broadcasting Service. KBS is one of the biggest broadcasters in the Republic of Korea or South Korea]. For the first time since the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain [when Chun Byung-Kwan won the gold medal]; Sa Jae-hyouk ends the drought of gold medals with his victory in the weightlifting competition after lifting three hundred and sixty six kilograms.

As the Beijing Olympics progress, I will predict that the most medals will won by the People’s Republic of China, the United States of America, and the Republic of Korea based on the fortitude, organization, and consistency of the teams and sport participants that are from these three countries. While I want to wish all of the countries the best in the Beijing Olympics, I want to expand my best wishes to the People’s Republic of China, the United States of America, and the Republic of Korea.
