The athletic events start on August 15th and feature two finals: the women’s 10,000 meters and the men’s shot put. Chinese Athlete Zhang Yingying will compete in the 10,000 meters.

However, the men’s 100 meters preliminary will be the biggest event of the day with the world’s fastest men Jamaican’s Usain Bolt, his compatriot Asafa Powell and US sprinter Tyson Gay will appear at the National Stadium.

Meanwhile, the first Olympic badminton medals will be awarded today. Chinese players Du Jing and Yu Yang will face South Korean during the women’s doubles final.

Following Thursday’s victory by Yang Wei, the Chinese pair of Jiang Yuyuan and Yang Yilin will continue the story of the successful Chinese Gymnastics team.

Michael Phelps will compete for his sixth gold medal in the men’s 200m individual medley final, which is supposed to be his most favoured event.
