I am not watching NBC [National Broadcasting Corporation] nor Telemundo [its affiliate] during the 2008 Summer Olympics being held in Beijing, People’s Republic of China. My reason is that NBC and Telemundo are hypocritical in their reporting of the 2008 Summer Olympics. NBC and Telemundo criticized the People’s Republic of China for supposed violations of human rights while they ignored the abuses committed by the Republicans and Democrats against Libertarians and Greens.

Another reason why I did not see the NBC and Telemundo coverage is that they lack substance. The majoirty of the coverage is based on the mundane with the television personalities attempting to cover China and its different cities via a Western Viewpoint. There was no pretext of objectivity in ots coverage and there was almost no excitement in the way the Beijing Olympics were covered. NBC and Telemundo did not give equal coverage to all of the other countries that were playing or winning gold medals or Olympic Medals of all types. The BBC [British Broadcasting Corporation] did a report on an Athlete from Togo who won an Olympic Medal for Kayaks. NBC and Telemundo did not give ANY Coverage.

In fact, the covereage of the Beijing Olympics 2008 by CRI [China Radio International] English and CCTV [China Central Television in English and Spanish] was objective and the people doing the coverage were professionals who knew what they were doing. CRI English and CCTV made television history with a top notch coverage that only CRI English and CCTV could do. The CRI English and CCTV Staff are knowledgable about China, objective, and excellent in their reporting. CRI English and CCTV covered all of the aspects of the Beijing Olympics while NBC and other Western Media looked at China through their prism and mirror of prejudice. In fact, CRI English and CCTV announced the victories of Michael Phelps before NBC gave the news. CRI English and CCTV reported in the Mongolian Olympic Team after winning their gold and silver medals. NBC and Telemundo was mute on such reports.

I am willing to give some credit to NBC and Telemundo for attempting to report about the Beijing Olympics but their attempts have been funny at time. NBC and Telemundo also have the problem of attempting to mix sports and politics and the same vein as some of the Western Stations. CRI English and CCTV only cover the sports aspects. NBC and Telemundo could talk all they want so called «human rights» but they should pay more attention to the sports aspect instead of wasting time on mindless banter. I give the NBC Coverage of the Beijing Olympics a three out of ten while its affiliate Telemundo receives a four out of ten. CRI English and CCTV receive a ten out of ten for their excellent reporting.
