While I am not much of a supporter of the Chicago Bears as I am of the Miami Dolphins, I decided to see the first game of the 2008-2009 NFL [National Football League] Season of the Chicago Bears. The decision was made after witnessing the Miami Dolphins lose to the New York Jets in their season opener and with Brett Favre surviving for the time being. The Chicago Bears was once a team that lost almost all of their games a few seasons ago when Wanstedt was coach. It was this loss that cost Wanstedt his job as coach. The Chicago Bears eventually redeemed themselves by winning the 2006 Super Bowl. The Chicago Bears that played against the Indianapolis Colts during the opening game on the seventh of September 2008 was a different team than the one of many seasons ago. The fact that the Chicago Bears defeated the Indianapolis Colts in their stadium at Lucas Oil Stadium in their hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana was testimony to how far they have gone and it bodes a great season for the Bears.

The Chicago Bears managed to produce many surprises during the opening game such as Urlacher and Briggs giving headaches at every opportunity to Peyton Manning. Forte was also the star attraction of the first half with the Chicago Bears with his yard rush while Robbie Gould surprised Vinatieri of the Indianapolis Colts with a field goal of forty one yards. Robbie Gould did his forty one yard field goal which was superior to the thirty four yard field goal by Vinatieri. The Chicago Bears actually gave the Indianapolis Colts a beating in their home town with a 29-13 victory. The Chicago Bears were playing what is known as a true and classical game of American Football and every minute of it were great. I was looking at how the Chicago Bears played a tough game against the Indianapolis Colts and thought of how the Miami Dolphins may want to see the video of this first game so that the Miami Dolphins do not lose anymore games.

At the present rate, the Chicago Bears should stick to the same game plan that helped them defeat the Indianapolis Colts and brought total humiliation to Peyton Manning. The Chicago Bears in order to have a great season should put emphasis on the players that made this victory possible such as Forte, Urlacher, Briggs, and Ogunleye. The Chicago Bears should also use Orton, Clark, and Maynard for their future plans. Lovie Smith [the Coach of the Chicago Bears] was right when he uttered these famous words which all football teams must pay attention to: «I’ve said all along you get to your first game to see where you are. Preseason [games], they don’t count. You want to go out and practice hard for every game. But behind the scenes, you’re trying to do everything you can to get ready for this first game.»

I predict the Chicago Bears may have a good season for 2008-2009. The Miami Dolphins have the same possibility but they will have to learn from the Chicago Bears.
