The date of January 11, 2009 will be remembered as one of infamy for Chelsea Supporters. Chelsea lost to Manchester United at its turf in Old Trafford. Chelsea did not even score as Manchester United scored three goals.
This comes at a time when Chelsea is recovering from a recent draw against Southend United. Chelsea has to prepare for a future game against the same team.
Chelsea is currently in second place in the Premiership League Tables with 42 points behind 1st place Liverpool [46 points] and 3rd place Manchester United [41 points]. Chelsea has won 16 games, lost 4 of them, and managed a draw in 9 of its Premiership Games.
What went wrong with Chelsea? How can Chelsea fix the problem before the next match against Southend United? The answers to these questions are obvious and deserve analysis from those who love Chelsea.
Chelsea [including its supporters such as myself] should look from the outside and stop assigning blame to people and personalities. The comparisons between Scolari and Mourinho should stop.
The bickering between the personalities in Chelsea should stop. Chelsea should not ask for instant results especially since Scolari started with Chelsea five months ago. At a time when the next game is against Southend United, it is imperative that the supporters rally behind Chelsea.
The people who play football [soccer] should also unite as one Chelsea Team and listen to Scolari. If Chelsea wants to win the Premiership League and other League Cups for 2008-2009, it has to swallow its pride. Chelsea has to be focused, disciplined, consistent, and willing to win. Chelsea has to think two words which are Chelsea and Victory.
The solutions for the long term may not be easy but the proposal made by the underwriter is a beginning. It is based on a reality that victory occurs when people are prepared psychologically for a victory.
Another reason is that a team that is disciplined and consistent in its game will win more games than a team that loses its discipline, respect, and consistency. Chelsea must win the game against Southend United and all other games with this mode of thinking in order to win the Premiership and other League Cups.
