Rio Ferdinand is one of the institutions that exist in Manchester United. He currently plays as a centre back for the Manchester United Football [Soccer] Club. Rio Ferdinand has also been one of the most controversial of football [soccer] players. Before talking about his life, his controversies should be discussed since athletes are human beings.
Rio Ferdinand has had various driving offences and was prohibited from driving because of them. He also used an expletive to describe a BBC Radio Disc Jockey although he later recanted. I also remember seeing segments of his own show called «Rio’s World Cup Wind Ups» followed by «Rio’s All Star Wind Ups».
It is a pity that both shows were cancelled since it showed English Football [Soccer] in a positive light with the athletes joking and becoming human. Even though he has his defects, who does not have them? He started life on the 7th of November 1978 in Peckham, London, England.
Rio Ferdinand started very early in life with football [soccer] and played for various teams such as Eltham Town, Queens Park Rangers, and West Ham United in his youth. He turned professional by remaining in West Ham United before he finally signed with Manchester United and started playing at Old Trafford.
Rio Ferdinand also played for Leeds United and Bournemouth during his period before he embarked on his Manchester United Career. During his career, he scored ten goals within three hundred and ninety four appearances. He also scored three goals in seventy seven appearances with the English National Team.
His biggest International Goals occurred in Nigata, Japan during the 2002 Korea/Japan World Cup when he helped England defeat Denmark three to zero with his one goal. He also scored three goals in England’s Game against Russia during the UEFA Euro 2008 Cup Finals played in England.
In the 2010 FIFA World Cup Classification between England and Kazakhstan in London, England, he scored one goal and was able to help England win its classification five to one. This occurred on the eleventh of October in the year 2008. He was the recipient of the honours of the Premier League, Football League Cup, FA Community Shield, UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, FIFPro World XI, and PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
Rio Ferdinand is currently married with two children and has been involved in helping football. He once accused FIFA of weakness when it came to dealing with racist behaviour in fans. This is something that is admirable since racism and hooliganism must be eliminated from football [soccer].
