Amanda Cunningham: Queen of Texas Music

I have the album «EP 05» interpreted by Amanda Cunningham. It was part of the shipment received from Lone Star Music in Texas.

Amanda Cunningham is one of the alternative artists that appear in the webpage of the online music store called Lone Star Music. Lone Star Music is Texas Music recorded and composed by Texans and for Texans as well as an international audience.

According to the Lone Star Music webpage, Amanda Cunningham is well known in Texas and Oklahoma and is famous for her concerts in these states. She has delivered a true Texas Music that has drawn comparisons with greats such as Sheryl Crow and Bobbie Gentry. Regardless, her music is a class of its own as one could hear in “EP 05”.

Even though “EP 05” was recorded in 2005, the music is as fresh and soulful as it is to the point. Every song describes what is truly Texas instead of the one fabricated by Hollywood. Many of the songs in the album deserve to be mentioned.

“Trailer Park Girl” is one of the songs that in my opinion unless told otherwise reminds me of the free spirit that exists in Texas especially when it comes to the women. “In The City” reminds me of the struggles that people have to go through when they want something bad.

The song “1000 Miles” is almost in the same wavelength as “In the City” in the lessons that should be learned. In my opinion, both songs mean that there is no such a thing as a free lunch.

“When I’m Gone” must in my opinion refer to when a man does not appreciate a woman although the opposite can be true. When one person in a pair [man and woman] start taking each other for granted, they fall apart. When someone new comes into the person’s life, if the new person is worst than the love that left, then the comparisons with love that has gone is there.

In my opinion, the best song to have come from “EP 05” is the song “Bad Ass Woman”. The song “Bad Ass Woman” is a gutsy song based on truth. “Bad Ass Woman” serves as a response to the song “American Woman” by Guess Who.

While the Guess Who sang the verse: “American Woman, Stay Away from Me…..” the response from Amanda Cunningham is “I’m a Bad Ass Woman, with a loaded gun…..” Yet she finishes the song with the verse: “I’m a Bad Ass Woman With a Heart of Gold”.

The lesson to be learned from “Bad Ass Woman” is that the women in Texas have a heart of gold but be prepared for a fight if you mess with them or their state. I rate the album five out of five or 100%. I also extend the same rating to Amanda Cunningham.

Amanda Cunningham with her fresh style in Texas Music deserves to be known as the «Queen of Texas Music» for music that comes from the heart.
