After reading one of the articles about the Swine Flu Epidemic published by Merinews, a decision was made by the underwriter to write about this growing problem that threatens the economy of the United States of America.

At the present time, the CDC or Center for Disease Control Webpage reported that there are 64 confirmed cases of Swine Flu. The states that are affected are Ohio, Texas, California, Kansas, and New York.

The most affected area of New York has been New York City with 45 cases being reported. The psychological damage has been evident as countries have treated the USA as a pariah.

Thailand, Nepal, the European Union, Russia, China, and other countries have introduced measures to contain the growing threat. While the USA has issued advisories to its citizens to not visit Mexico, other countries have issued the same advisory towards North America.

While Florida has been lucky at the time of this article to escape the scourge of swine flu, it has been stricken by fear. People have been visiting convenient stores and buying gloves, soaps, anti bacterial liquid soap, and masks.

The US Mainstream Media have been feeding on the fear especially when on the morning of 2009-4-29 at 11:00 AM Miami Time, an employee of a hospital in Orlando, Florida released an E Mail Message to a local TV Station.

The E Mail Message stated that the hospital isolated its first case of a person with Swine Flu Virus. The Health Minister of Florida and the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital had to conduct a press conference denying that Florida has Swine Flu.

It should be added that the person who released the E Mail message violated the Patient Privacy Laws of the State of Florida and the United States of America.

The news about the possible case of Swine Flu in Florida exacerbated the existing tensions within the state already looking for masks, soap, gloves, and anti bacterial liquid soap.

There are people who are talking about Swine Flu as if the world was living out its last days. Others have talked about a conspiracy by the US Governing Elite to wipe out people it does not agree with.

The people whose children suffer from respiratory disease have parked their cars in hospitals and actually live in their cars. It appears that the residents have stockpiled on Tamiflu which is used to treat Swine Flu.

While people have a right to be worried, they have a right to be informed without a fear factor that resembles the fateful Halloween Night in 1938 when Orson Welles broadcast his adaptation of «War Of The World».

The people of Florida deserve to be informed without the psychological torture of fear. They have to know that preventive measures such as not going out in crowded places, proper hand washing techniques, use of plastic utensils, plates, and cups will help.

It can also be said that preventive measures such as covering the nose and mouth with disposable tissue will help prevent ff not cure. The ingestion of fluids such as water will help increase the defense of the immune system against invasion by bodies.

It is hoped that this epidemic will resolve soon otherwise Florida may have to increase funds for more psychiatric hospitals.
