H1N1 Girl Talks With South Florida TV Station
Before continuing with the article from Florida concerning H1N1, a third case of H1N1 was reported in Central Florida. The confirmed case was a Mexican Girl visiting Central Florida. A few more cases were reported in the Miami Dade County city of Doral, Florida. One of the charter schools in the area will be closed until May 6, 2009. Two of the victims were frequent travelers to Mexico.
While obtaining information about the boy from Lee County, Florida, the girl who was diagnosed with Influenza A H1N1 talked with WSVN 7. WSVN 7 is one of the many TV Stations in South Florida. The interview was conducted under the condition that she remained anonymous secondary to the excessive fear that has gripped Florida since the H1N1 Story started in Mexico.
Another reason has been the Privacy Laws called HIPAA [Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act]. HIPAA protects the patient against unwanted disclosure of their health records. The punishments for misuse of patient files can be costly and result in long terms in jail.
In the interview, the girl who is a student of Hallandale High School stated that she felt like an outcast. Many of her friends have been texting her since the diagnosis and have been “freaked out” according to the girl.
One of her relatives who live next door has a mask to enter the house. She has to wear a mask inside her house when she is in contact with other people. She cannot leave the house. Her family has been attempting to buy masks and gloves at a time when Pharmacies have depleted their stock of the above mentioned items.
Hallandale High School remains closed until Wednesday 2009-5-6 and there have been new probable cases of Influenza A H1N1 in the state. Florida is still experiencing a fear factor based on the 24 hour reporting of H1N1.
Many people have avoided large crowds and are washing their hands with soap and anti bacterial soap. It is also hoped that with the recent news of a decrease in the incidence of H1N1 in Mexico that the fear will abate.
In fact, [after news articles in Now Public concerning the Excessive Fear] there are people in the US Mainstream Media that have been attempting to balance the need to report H1N1 without scaring. At the present time, FOX News and CNN have reported that 30 out of 50 States in the USA have Influenza A H1N1.
There will be more attempts to check the information from CNN and FOX by visiting the CDC [Center for Disease Control and Prevention] Webpage.
Radio Romania International in its shortwave broadcast to Europe but received in Florida reported that tourists arriving from North America have to fill a separate form before customs proving that they have not been affected by the Influenza A H1N1 Virus. It remains to be seen how the Influenza A H1N1 Story will continue to evolve.
