Father Alberto Cutie and the Paparazzi

On the 18th of May 2009, Cristina Saralegui of The Cristina Show [one of the popular programmes of the US Latin TV Station Univision] dedicated a segment to the people who revealed the news about Father Alberto Cutie.

The people who were interviewed were Juan Garcia Alejandro who is the head of TV Notas [the US Latin Magazine], Lorenzo Gonzalez [Paparazzi for the locally base agency Fullcovernews], and Jose Luis Castillo [photographer].

The first question asked was if the whole thing was pre arranged or was it news that was emerged. The three denied that it was a pre arrangement and admitted that they obtained their information from a «confident» source. The three admitted that they received information and took photos but withheld their information for one month before consulting their «legal departments».

The three journalists and paparazzi admitted that they did not want to create a position which would make people uncomfortable. In fact, Lorenzo Gonzalez asked for forgiveness from Father Alberto Cutie, his followers, and the followers of the Catholic Church for what he has done.

Juan Garcia Alejandro revealed that Father Alberto Cutie had «lied» when he told Univision TV reporter Teresa Rodriguez that this was the first time these photos were seen. Mr. Alejandro revealed that he told Father Alberto Cutie about the photos the night before they were to be published.

According to Mr. Alejandro, Father Alberto Cutie expressed his concern what will happen to his family including the people in his parish. There was more to come when Jose Luis Castillo revealed his «bombshell».

Mr. Castillo revealed that he was with his wife at a popular restaurant in South Beach when he saw Father Alberto Cutie and Ms. Ruhamma Cannelis in the restaurant kissing in a romantic way. Mr. Castillo had his camera hidden in a plastic bag and started to take photos and shoot videos. Mr. Castillo’s wife also participated in the photo and video shoots.

Mr. Castillo also revealed that Ms. Cannelis worked as a Paparazzi in her spare time. Mr. Castillo discussed his findings with Lorenzo Gonzalez and Juan Garcia Alejandro because this is the case of «a priest with the following of a rock star». The three went to different media organizations in Miami Florida which refused to publish the photos.

Cristina Saralegui later interviewed a priest whose name was Del Rio. Del Rio had fallen in love and left the priesthood. He was of the opinion that Father Alberto Cutie may have precipitated his behavior and should have dealt with it gradually in his TV and Radio Show. The three photographers and paparazzi agreed.

The underwriter hopes that the subject will gradually die down so that there could be a return to normalcy. It appears that this may not be the case since Miami and the US Latin Community appears to have fallen in love with this story.
