Libya has moved from 83^rd to 69^th place in the FIFA Coca Cola World Ranking while the country is looking forward to the 2014 World Cup. Libya has also been designated as host for the 2014 CAF Africa Cup of Nations. It appears that Libya is coming out of the cold when it comes to football.

The reason has been that the Libyan National Team has been taking the time to build itself into a team that is capable of competing against well established teams such as Cameroon, Nigeria, and Ghana.

One of the pending issues is the name of a new coach or head of the Libyan National Team who has to take the country towards qualification in the 2012 CAF Cup of Nations. After 2012, the Libyan National Team has to challenge for the same title as hosts.

It appears that there are high expectations for Libya as it moves into the mainstream in football.
