The Chief Executive of Global Software Applications [located in Pennsylvania] Ron Koning managed to uncover one of the biggest scams from unscupulous people who want to cash in on the 2010 World Cup.
Mr. Koning was contacted by Irwin Khoza who states that he was a chairperson of the local organizing committee for the 2010 World Cup. Mr. Khoza asked Mr Koning to «provide 500 indoor directional touch screen kiosks» for the World Cup. Mr. Khoza than asked for Mr. Koning to write a multimillion dollar contract proposal.
After submitting the proposal, Mr. Koning received an E Mail informing him that he won the contract and asked for $5000.00 to be deposited in the account of of the «commitee» and that «banking details must be submitted for payment». The E Mail was an approval certificate which had the signature of Mr. Khoza and the Chief Executive [of the Committe for the 2010 World Cup] Danny Jordaan.
After some suspicion, Mr. Koning denounced the scam and there is an ongoing investigation by the 2010 World Cup Organizing Committee, Argus News [which is a newspaper in South Africa].
FIFA is also asking people to denounce any scams involving the 2010 World Cup.
