Sven Goren Eriksson whose recent jobs were with the National Teams of England and Mexico as well as Manchester City has signed a five year deal with the Notts County Football Club.
While Ian Mc Parland will remain as manager, Mr. Eriksson will have his hands full with scouting, health, fitness, transfer negotiations, player development, training facilities, youth academies, and the establishment of links to the community and abroad.
He also has to produce results especially since the consortium that bought Notts County will be expecting results. It is hoped that they will not apply unfair pressure on Mr. Eriksson in the same light that former Prime Minister of Thailand and Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra did.
Mr. Eriksson has already unveiled his first ambition after taking which over. He wants to take Notts County to the Premier League from League Two. While this is a gigantic feat for any team, it is possible if Notts County is committed.
He has also gone further and has plans to live in Nottingham. It is hoped that this is the start of a new era for the Magpies.
