The Glazer Family who are the current owners of Manchester United have told Sir Alex Ferguson that he has «significant funds» and that he will «not fritter them away». The Glazer Family also declared that United will not be «held for ransom».

I am angered as a US Citizen and as a Football [Soccer] supporter how the Glazers treat Manchester United. While aware that sports has become big business administered by people who do not know or love sports but have a love of money, this smacks of a arrogance and a form of neo colonialism in sports.

How can Glazer treat Sir Alex Ferguson as a servant by saying they will be sure he does not spend all of the money? When the Glazers say that «United will not be held for ransom», what do they mean? The Glazers are hypocritical in their comments since they have held the club ransom to their interests to the detriment of the many fans of Manchester United.

It is hoped that one day the fans will support groups such as the Manchester United Supporters Trust to take back our club from those who think of it as a cash cow.
