It appears that Diego Armando Maradona is threatening to resign as coach of the Argentine National Football [Soccer] Team after Argentina received poor results in its 2010 World Cup Qualifiers. He left the window open to continuing as coach «under my terms».

It appears that Maradona cannot accept responsibility for what he has done for his team. It was his coaching that lead Argentina to the state that it is in with respect to the 2010 World Cup. His arrogance, and lack of coordination with regards to planning as well as strategy.

Maradona with his comments is behaving more like a little child who throws a temper tantrum when he does not get things his way. Unfortunatly, the society that he lives in and the people who have surrounded him have given in to his every whim.

While Maradona may have been one of the greatest football [soccer] players [while his personal life is not admirable], he has become a disgrace to his country and the sport. While Argentina may have a possibility of a play off in order to reach the World Cup finals, the country is not the same as it was during the glory days of the 1978 World Cup.

It appears that Maradona should find what little dignity he has and say: «I failed» and resign. He should content himself to writing his own autobiography, have his own television show [again], or even make frequent trips to Cuba.

If Maradona does not want to resign, it is hoped that the Argentine Football [Soccer] Federation will declare him redundant or fired from his post.
