The season of Christmas is characterized by the singing of Christmas Carols. The history of Christmas Carols are not known but composers such as Bach have written them and with tender loving care. The artists who would interpret Christmas Carols would do the same thing as well.
The examples of Christmas Carols that are Christian in nature are abundant with examples such as «Silent Night», «Hark The Herald Angels Sing», and «God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen». Nat King Cole was an example of how these carols were interpreted to reflect their true meaning which is that Christmas is the birthday of Jesus Christ. The time has come to discuss «Silent Night».
The history of «Silent Night» is testimony to it being a Christian Christmas Carol. It occurred in Austria in the early 19th century when Mohr and Gruber [one was the Church Organist and the other was a priest] were distraught that the Church Organ was damaged during Christmas Eve.
Gruber and Mohr went to work to write a Christmas Carol for the Midnight Mass. God gave them the inspiration for the verse and the melody and the composition was finished in time for the Midnight Mass. They sang their composition using a guitar and their voices. The song became popular generation after generation.
«Silent Night» was also used by Prisoners of Nazism and Communism in Europe as a response to the tortures and degradations by their captors. It kept the spirits of these prisoners uplifted and God was able to protect them in their affliction.
«Adeste Fideles» is another example of a Christian Christmas Carol that people associate with the birth of the King of the world Jesus Christ. While Nat King Cole interpreted this carol with majesty, Luciano Pavarotti and the choir at the Vatican [which interpreted it acappella] also interpreted it evoking the dawning of a new age in which all of the bad elements of the world are banished from the world and are replaced by a Truly New World where peace and love reigns.
In the Spanish Speaking world, the Christmas Carol «Navidad» or [Christmas] interpreted by the Cuban American Singer, Actress, and Model Maria Lourdes is another example of a Christian Christmas Carol. The carol «Navidad» which was written and recorded in the 21st Century talks about family and friends uniting to celebrate the birth of the Infant Jesus Christ. It is a song that carries a powerful emotion and challenge for people to follow Christ.
The series «Nuestra Navidad» [Our Christmas] by the Argentine composer Ariel Ramirez details the events that lead to the birth of Jesus Christ and ends with the Holy Family being exiled to Egypt to escape from Herod. The people who can hear this carol think and imagine the life of Jesus Christ and what he went through to save us.
