Metallica Left A Legacy In Neo Classical Music

The heavy metal rock group Metallica has left a legacy in many spheres of music since its formation in the year 1981. The experts in music have forgotten or choose to ignore the reality of Metallica having left a legacy on classical contemporary music. One of the notable examples of how Metallica left a legacy in classical music is the Finnish Heavy Metal group called Apocalyptica.

The group Apocalyptica are a group of cellists who were trained in the classics. The majority of the members of the group graduated from the presigious Sibelius Academy in Finland. In spite of their training, they have recorded in the neo classical metal, symphonic metal, and gothic metal genre. The group even admits that they have received their inspiration during and after their time at Sibelius Academy from Metallica.

The inspiration and learning from Metallica was not just theory for the group Apocalyptica. They decided to put their theory into practice by conducting an experiment or a revolution which would combine the classical world with the heavy metal one. The end result was the album titled «Apocalyptica Plays Metallica By Four Cellos» in the year 1996.

The album established Apocalyptica as one of the predominant figures in the heavy metal classical genre. It also cemented the legacy of Metallica in the classical and neo classical genre.

Apocalyptica recoirded the songs such as «Enter Sandman», «Masters Of Puppets», «Harvester Of Sorrow», «The Unforgiven», «Sad But True», «Creeping Death», «Wherever I May Roam», «Welcome Home [Sanitarium» by Metallica with the intent of visualizing the songs as played on classical cello.

The Finnish Cello Group took the Metallica Songs and played them in their original arrangements with the cellos highlighting some of the notes from the electric guitar. There were other cellists that were able to play on the lowest notes as well. The discerning listener could appreciate the crescendo in «Enter Sandman». and  «Master of Puppets».

The song «Harvester Of Sorrow» and «The Unforgiven» was one of the greatest interpretations of the Metallica genre on cello. The underwriter could only imagine members of Metallica as well as their fans going to a concert with classical music lovers to hear Apocalyptica.

The rest of the songs were considered to be out of this world even by a music lover such as the underwriter. While many people have debated the legacy of Metallica in the music world, there is no doubt that the interpretation by Apocalyptica on cellos is an example of how the group left its legacy in the classical world. The undewriter challenges the readers to imagine Metallica in a Classical Theme.
