The Manchester City Football Club is the other club in Manchester, England and it is a big club with a great history. The current history is proof that it is a big club. Manchester City
was remembered for the successful attempt of former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to buy it. Mr. Shinawatra then hired Sven Goren Eriksson to be the coach of the club.
While Sven Goren Eriksson was unable to deliver on the perfect win for Mr. Shinawatra, he was fired from his job. Thaksin Shinawatra saw Manchester Citry as a big team in the same order that a farmer would look at a cow. He wanted to milk the club to the maximum benefit of himself.
Manchester City is even bigger than the Shinawatra versus Eriksson saga. The club has participated in charity work such as New Children’s Hospital Appeal to help children in need. The City [as Manchester City is also called] has also participated in charities such as The City In The Community.
The purpose of The City In The Community is to strengthen the ties between the community of Manchester and the City. It has achieved this purpose by putting emphasis con social inclusion, engagement of the community, as well as the health, well being, and education of the community. It is these charitable works that makes Manchester City a big club since it also possess a big heart.
Manchester City is also a big club because of its history in football. The City was the recipient of the following awards: European Cup Winner’s Cup [1970], Football League
Champions [1936-1937,1967-1968], Football League Runner Ups [1903-1904, 1920-1921, 1976-1977], Division One Champions [2001-2002], and the FA Cup [1904, 1934, 1956, 1969].
The City has also participated in the Division Two as winners and runner ups, and have had the most goals in the Division Two 1926-1927 season with 108 goals within 42 games and Division One 2001-2002 season with 108 goals within 46 games. Colin Bell also participated in the rich and exciting history of this big club by being the most capped player with 48.
In the year 2008, Manchester City was able to prove itself by signing Robinho after his time spent with Real Madrid. The City then followed that success with the signing of Roberto Mancini as manager on the 19th of December 2009. Mr. Mancini arrived after a successful stint as coach of AC Milan.
The history which is continuous shows that Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs and a big player in English Football/Soccer and should not be underestimated.
