The US Football [Soccer] Team concluded its practice session and will be facing Honduras on the 23rd of January 2010 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. While the game is a friendly one, it is being used as a rehearsal in preparations for the 2010 World Cup.

The USA is in Group C against teams such as England, Algeria, and Slovenia. It will face England in its opening game. According to the FIFA Coca Cola World Ranking, the USA is currently in 14th place with 980 points behind its opening opponent. England is in 9th place with 1076 points.

Honduras is in Group H against Spain, Chile, and Switzerland. Honduras is expected to play against Chile in its opening game. Honduras is currently in 37th place with 738 points behind Chile [15th place with 936 points].

The USA and Honduras have to prove their worth in this practice rehearsal. The USA may have a home field advantage but that cannot guarantee a victory. The same applies to the statistical rankings of the FIFA/Coca Cola Classification.  The USA cannot underestimate its opponent.

The USA did not play an impressive game against Denmark and lost that friendly. It cannot afford to lose another game if it wants to be taken seriously in this World Cup.

The USA must play an organized game with consistency, discipline, and organization. It cannot afford to rest on its laurels. It must look forward in its method of playing while the goalkeeper has to be on guard.

Regardless, it is the desire of the underwriter to wish both teams the best.

Considero que ambos paises pueden ganar el partido. Los EEUU para poder ser un candidato serio en la Copa Mundial 2010 debe concentrarse en este juego. No debe mirar para atras con el arquero reforzando la defensa. Aunque EEUU esta por encima de Honduras en la clasificacion de la FIFA y con la ventaja del partido en su pais, no puede subestimar a Honduras.
Honduras es un equipo poderoso que mostro lo que puede hacer un pais con una actitud positiva. Sin nada mas, mis mejores deseo para ambos paises.
