Brenda Kay: Queen of Texas and Americana Music for the 21st Century

The Lone Star State of Texas has an annual award for its best singers, musicians, and groups that play the best in Texas and Americana Music. Brenda Kay is one of the rising artists in this genre since she is one of the few who sings from the heart and soul. She has been nominated for the Texas Music Awards in the category of Best Female Vocalist for 2010 for her CD «Dirt»s Still Red».

Brenda Kay is also a composer in her own right and wrote all of the songs in her latest CD «Dirt’s Still Red». She admits that the songs in her album are about her feelings and that here inspiration to write music comes naturally. The CD «Dir’st Still Red» has also struck a chord with others who have felt the same as she did when she wrote the songs.

The underwriter was able to listen to the first two songs of the album such as «Don’t Let Me Down» and «Dirt’s Still Red» and was able to relate with his heart and soul to the music. The two songs [while the underwriter has yet to visit Texas] helped bring back some memories of an earlier childhood when he spent time with friends in North Carolina as well as South Carolina.

It was the sense of relaxation and being down to earth that attracted him to the music that is beginning to enjoy a revival.

Brenda Kay was born in Texas and spent time in North Dakota. She started her musical journey at a very young age by singing before she learned how to talk. For those who think this is an exagerration, it must be remembered that the German Composer of the Nineteenth Century Johannes Brahms learned to sing before he could talk.

Brenda Kay is also a humanitarian who believes in the beauty of the Earth. She demonstrated her love of nature by participating in the 2009 Trash Off in Abilene, Texas. The Trash Off is an event in which artists participate in picking up trash in Abilene and maintaining the beauty of Abilene in the process.

Brenda Kay will probably be remembered as the Queen of Texas Music for the 21st Century regardless whether she wins or not the Texas Music Awards for Best Female Vocalist. She at least has gained a fan in the State of Florida for being an alternative to the mediocrity of conglomerate music
