The Everton FC has expressed hopes of extending the loan agreement with the LA Galaxy concerning Landon Donovan. David Moyes who is the Manager of the English team located in Goodison Park even quoted that the Galaxy would agree to such a deal.
The response of the LA Galaxy has been that the loan agreement is almost over and that Donovan must return to play for the team during its regular MLS [Major League Soccer] Season.
Mr. Moyes and Everton are impressed with Donovan’s performance and are hoping that the MLS would experience a delay in the start of their season secondary to labour disputes.
The MLS Season [unless there is a lack of agreement between the League and the football/soccer player’s union] is scheduled to start at the end of March. The US is one of the few countries that have their season from March to October.
Regardless of the outcome, the LA Galaxy has stated that they want Donovan to return to the USA and that Everton has to comply. Mr. Moyes has even recognized this as necessary for the US Football/Soccer Astro to continue his practice in preparation for the 2010 World Cup.
It remains to be seen what will transpire but this is a story that will receive more attention in the days to come.
