CONCACAF Champions League Result: Pachuca 1-0 Toluca

The Tuzos of Pachuca faced the Red Devils of Toluca in the Estadio Hidalgo in Mexico for the chance to classify in the finals of the CONCACAF Champions League. The game itself lacked the excitement of the Cruz Azul VS Pumas UNAM.

The game started with Pachuca in posesssion of the ball and the first goal scored by Edy Brambila within 5 minutes. The goal surprised the goalkeepr for Toluca Alfredo Talavera.Damian Manso was one of the dominant forces in the game as he was defending his fellow players in the left flank before being sent to the right.

Leobardo Lopez and Dario Cvitanich also were able to block many of the passes of Toluca. Toluca attempted to make a comeback in order to equalize but was unable to do so  secondary to their lack of a fast eraction to Pachuca’s every move. Pachuca could have done better but they were just playing to maintain the one point advantage.

It was a slow motion game at worst which lacked the electricity of Cruz Azul VS Pumas UNAM. The second half was just a continuation of the first with the status quo being maintained.

The amount of yellow cards and substitutions were just the same with Dario Cvitanich [Pachuca]receiving a yellow card at 19 minutes followed by Antonio Rios [Toluca] at 23 minutes, and Antonio Nelson [Toluca] at 35 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The second half was filled with both teams receiving yellow cards such as Martin Romagnoli [Toluca], Javier Munoz [Pachuca], and Osvaldo Gonzalez [Toluca]. In the end, Pachuca prevailed but barely.

Pachuca and Cruz Azul are in the final stretch of the CONCACAF Champions League and it remains to be seen how this will transpire. Pachuca must improve its game plan [although teams have their up and down moments] or risk losing to Cruz Azul.
