The City of Miami Florida and its surrounding suburbs are known as the Sun and Fun Capital of the world. It is a place where there are many historical monuments and places to shop. The Miami Se aquarium is one of the best aquariums in North America and was home to the Dolphin TV Star called Flipper as well as Hugo The Killer Whale.
The Miami Se aquarium is also the home of many species such as the manatee. The Miami Metro Zoo and Parrot Jungle are also places to visit to see the animals and parrots from different parts of the world in their live habitats. For the people who are here on spring break, they can see the Youth Fair or visit the Annual Calle Ocho Festival that occurs every March
The place called Calle Ocho is actually named SW 8th Street and it is one of the important arteries through Little Havana. The stores and theaters that are abundant makes for a lively place to visit. One of the famous art galleries is the Maxoly Art Gallery famous for its display of Modern Cuban Art and is located next to one of the famous Cuban Restaurants El Pub [formerly known as Badia]. El Pub was one of the first Cuban Restaurants founded in 1959.
The restaurant scene does not limit itself to El Pub since there is El Esquisito, Versailles, and La Casita complete with its live entertainment. In Little Havana, there is another cultural festival every last Friday of the month where local artists display their creations to the visitors.
The City of Miami Beach is famous for South Beach where people go to see and be seen as well as soak up the sun. Miami Beach was famous for being the home of the Jackie Gleason Show during the 1950’s and 1960’s. In honor of Jackie Gleason, the Miami Beach Theater of Performing Arts has been renamed in honor of this great comedian who put Miami Beach on the map.
The City of Key Biscayne has one of the oldest lighthouses in the State of Florida. It is no longer used and I do not think that people can visit it but it is worth taking a visit. The City of Coral Gables is home to one of the famous churches called The Church of The Little Flower. The Church of the Little Flower is the oldest church in the South Florida area.
The Biltmore Hotel is another historic place to visit while in the Miami Area. It is located in Coral Gables, Florida and was established as a hotel in the 1920’s. It became a Veterans Hospital during World War II until 1968 when it was abandoned for two decades. It became a hotel again in 1988 and is currently registered as a National Monument by the US Federal Government.
The people who love sports would love to see the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Heat, and the Florida Marlins at their respective stadiums such as the Pro Player Stadium, and American Airlines Arena. The stores that are worth visiting are Bayside [with its ships taking people on a tour of the bay side], Dadeland, Dolphin Mall, Miami International Mall, and Aventura Mall.
The theaters that are worth visiting are the Avante and Prometeo with their classicsl Spanish fare. It is also the place for aspring artists to prove to the world that they could make it anywhere. The Vizcaya Musuem as well as the Planetarium are also places to visit. Vizacya is a mansion made in the Spanish and Italian Style. The Planetarium is a place where a person can see the planets at night.
Coconut Grove is a part of Miami Florida that deserves to be seen such as the Lady of Charity Chapel [next to Mercy Hospital] as well as the Cocowalk Mall which is an open mall. There are more places to visit in Miami Florida that could be used for a future article.
