Noel Valladares is being criticized by the Honduran press and sports authorities for his lackluster role as the goalkeeper for his national team and his team Olympia. Olympia is one of the teams in the Honduran National League.The popular newspaper El Heraldo went as far as to dedicate two pages to his performance with regards to aerial performance.

The newspaper added insult to injury against Valladares when the paper suggested that «tree that is born twisted remains twisted» was applied to the style of play by Noel Valladares. El Heraldo also criticized the performance of the player during the loss of Honduras to Peru 2 to 1 in a CONMEBOL [Central and South American Cup Match] played in Miami Florida.

The rest of the Honduran Sports press suggests Ricardo Canales as a possible replacement for Noel Valladares since he «is more effective with regard to aerial play». Ricardo Canales is a player for Montagua which is another football/soccer club in Honduras. Montagua is in first place in the Honduran National League with 35 points followed by Olimpia with 31 points.

Juan Carlos Nunez [who is a popular sports reporter in Honduras] added his voice to the growing number of people who are calling for the replacement of Valladares as the days advance towards the 2010 World Cup with the Central American country in Group H classified alongside Spain, Switzerland, and Chile.

Carlos Prono is another ex player for Olimpia and sportscaster who has expressed his doubts about Valladares and is calling for his replacement. He stated that he does not understand why many people in the Honduran National Football/Soccer Team are afraid to remove Valladares as the goalkeeper.

El Heraldo also suggested as another replacement Donis Escobar [another player for Olympia] for his role in saving Olympia from humilliation by Real Madrid during a game between both teams even though the game was 0-0. It appears that there may be some changes and the situation will continue to be monitored.
