Jozy Altidore

The advent of the 2010 World Cup and the participation of the US Soccer Team is one of the reasons for a tribute to Jozy Altidore. Jozy Altidore was a striker for the MLS [Major League Soccer] Team the New York Red Bulls before signing with the Hull City FC in Great Britain on a loan deal.

He was born Josmer Volmy Altidore on the 6th of November 1989 in Livingston, New Jersey to Haitian parents. He was raised in Boca Raton, Florida where he began his career in football/soccer after finishing high school. He started his career with the New York Red Bulls where he managed to have 15 goals within 37 appearances.

He was transferred to Villareal where he scored one goal within 6 appearances and was loaned to Xerex and Hull City. His career in Xerex did not produce any results while Hull City resulted in one goal within 26 appearances. He is also a member of the US Soccer Team since 2005 where he scored 15 goals within 32 appearances.

While he has been a success in the professional field, he has earned more in the humanitarian field. When Haiti was affected by an earthquake in the beginning of 2010, he cancelled his games with Hull City FC and flew to the afflicted island to offer assistance. He has also been involved in the Yele Haiti charitable organization directed by Haitian Singer Wyclef Jean,

During the time of the earthquake in Haiti, Jozy Altidore helped the Yele Haiti organization by making commercials calling on the people of the world to donate time, effort, and money to help the people of the country of his parents. He repeated his pleas everytime he was interviewed by the press.

He has been previously involved with the organization in 2006 when the Red Bulls played in Haiti. During the half time, Wyclef Jean performed with the Colombian Singer Shakira in a concert. Wyclef Jean even wore a New York Red Bull Shirt emblazoned with the number 17 of Jozy Altidore.

Jozy Altidore has been preparing for the upcoming 2010 World Cup especially the first game between the United States of America and England. While it is expected to be a tough match, Jozy Altidore has taken everything in stride by saying that the way to win is with confidence in the heart, mind, and soul.

It remains to be seen whether this will transpire. I hope it does.
