Mexico faced Ecuador in a friendly game designed as a dress rehearsal for the 2010 World Cup Game. The friendly took place in New Jersey in front of more than 75,000 people.
The result was a goalless draw that left the people shocked with what transpired. It was something that was not supposed to happen. Since Mexico is going to face South Africa in the opening game of the 2010 World Cup, it has to do a lot more.
Mexico was disorganized and clueless as to what it was doing while Ecuador appeared distracted. It appeared that both teams were trying to score but ended passing the ball between the team members.
The substitutions did not help the situation and the yellow cards for players that crashed into each other made the situation worse. Ecuador was the worst team in that it made many errors in the execution of the game such as passing the ball or attempting goals.
Mexico was aunable to capitalize on the errors of Ecuador or it appeared that the team did not know what it was doing. It was not a game, it was a slow drawn out process of both teams in a state of distraction.
It is hoped that Mexico would get its act together since it faces Senegal in Chicago, Illinois and Angola before going to South Africa. It remains to be seen what will transpire. Regardless, I am willing to predict South Africa will defeat Mexico in the opening game of the 2010 World Cup at the rate Mexico is playing.
