2010 FIFA World Cup: Nigeria

Nigeria enters the 2010 FIFA World Cup with people doubting its ability to make a lasting impression or advance to the semi-finals. Nigeria is facing the Republic of Korea [South Korea], Argentina, and Greece in Group B.

Nigeria is ranked in 20th place with 883 points in the FIFA Coca Cola Ranking while Argentina is in 7th place with 1084 points. Greece is in 12th place with 968 points and the Republic of Korea [South Korea] is in 47th place with 619 points.

Nigeria has faced tough opponents on the road to the 2010 FIFA World Cup and has defeated countries in the African qualifiers such as Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Kenya, Tunisia, and Mozambique.

Nigeria has also won in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics in football/soccer.

The team has 9 wins, 3 defeats, and no losses. Nigeria also has 20 goals for, 5 goals against, and an average of 14 cards. The most valued player of the team is Victor Obinna with twenty goals within four hundred and twelve minutes.

Victor Obinna has 15 matches played, 10 wins, 4 draws, 1 loss, 7 goals for and 1 yellow card.

Nigeria has other valuable players such as Ickechukwu Uche,Yabuku Aiyegbeni, Joseph Yobo, Peter Odemwingie, Nwankwo Kanu John Utaka,,and Vincent Enyama, Yabuku Aiyegbeni has 21 matches played, 16 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses, 7 goals for, 0 goals against, and two yellow cards.

Peter Odemwingie participated in the victory of Nigeria over Argentina during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. He has a record for the following: 21 matches played, 14 wins, 6 draws, 1 loss, 4 goals for, and two yellow cards.

Joseph Yono has 30 games played with 16 wins, 8 draws, 6 losses, 3 goals for, and 1 yellow card. Nwankwo Kanu has 37 matches played, 24 wins, 5 draws, 7 losses, 13 goals for, and one yellow card.

John Utaka has 11 matches played, 8 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses, 1 goal for, 1 yellow card, and 1 red card. Lars Lagerback who is the coach has wasted no time in recruiting the best players that Nigeria has to offer for this historical world cup.

While the pundits say otherwise, Nigeria will defeat Greece but may run into problems with Argentina. The ideal dream would be for Nigeria to defeat Argentina in their debut game in South Africa. The reason is that the arrogance of Maradona has reached its limit of tolerance for the lovers of soccer.
