2010 FIFA World Cup Reflections

The 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa have plenty of contenders such as the ones in Group A [South Africa, Uruguay, Mexico, and France]. Group B is another group with Argentina, Nigeria, Greece, and the Republic of Korea [also known as South Korea]. Group C consists of the United States of America, England, Algeria, and Slovenia. Group G [also known as the Group of Death] is composed of the countries of Brazil, Portugal, Ivory Coast, and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea [also known as North Korea].

Group A Contenders [South Africa and Mexico]

The opening game between South Africa and Mexico will be one which tests who will emerge as the top contenders of Group A. South Africa will defeat Mexico and the other members of Group A since they are disciplined and highly motivated to win. The team appears to be improving its game plan with each day.

While Mexico may lose to South Africa taking into account its practice rehearsals against Ecuador pwhich was a draw] as well as Senegal, Angola, and Chile which were 1-0, the country will defeat France and Uruguay in oder to advance to first or second place in Group A..Everything hinges on how well Mexico will perfom in their European preliminary games including one scheduled against Group C member England.

Group B Contenders [Nigeria and South Korea]

The contenders for Group B will be competing against each other also the underwriter is willing to predict the elimination of Greece in the first round. The Repuiblic of Korea is expected to face Argentina and Nigeria after eliminating Greece. The Republic of Korea or South Korea will probably lose to Nigeria taking into account the rapid response of the Nigerains in football [soccer].

South Korea will defeat Argentina [unless Messi is on the defensive and offensive] since it is expected that Argentina will crack under pressure from an unlikely source called Maradona. Argentina may lose with Maradona being humilliated with Nigeria and South Korea being the top contenders.

Group C Contenders [USA and England]

While England is expected to be a major contender after it eliminates Algeria and Slovenia from contention, it will have a difficult time with a sleeping giant called the USA. The first game between the USA and England will result in the upset victory of the team of Landon Donovan. England has been beste by internal divisions that have affected the team as well as the declarations of the Ex President of its Association [FA] about «Spain bribing the referrees».

Both teams will eliminate Algeria and Slovenia from contention taking into account their discipline, consistency, and deidcation to football/soccer.

Group G Contenders [Brazil and Ivory Coast]

Brazil and the Ivory Coast will eliminate North Korea and Portugal from contention although Portugal is expected to put up some resistance. North Korea will lose all of its games unless it can surprise the world with an upset similar to the one that it did against Italy during the 1966 FIFA World Cup in which it won against Italy.

Brazil is a strong team with previous experience in the various World Cups. The Ivory Coast under the management of Sven Goran Eriksson and one of the principal palyers Didier Drigba has produced a team that has been forceful in its offense, defense, and placing the goalkeeper of opposing teams on the defensive. It remains to be seen what will transpire.
