Justin Haigh: A 21st Century Reality Singer

Steve Miller sang the following verse when he recorded the famous 1977 hit “Jet Airliner”. He sang that “you have to go through hell before you get to heaven”. The same thing can be applied to artists regardless of the genre.

Johnny Cash [who was a Country Singer during the 20th Century] went through the verse and became a success in the music industry. The same can be applied to the rising star in Texas Music who goes by the name of Justin Haigh.

Justin Haigh is the 21st Century version of Johnny Cash and his recent album is testimony to what he has gone through in his life. The native of South Dakota lives in Brady, Texas and the road to Texas was a difficult one.

He was born and raised in his father’s ranch in South Dakota whose love of music started at an early age. The popularity of Justin Haigh was extensive to the point that a friend dared him to sing in public at the age of 13.

When he accepted the dare and sang on the podium, he received praise and went to sing in different areas. While Justin Haigh was blessed with musical talent, he went through most of the problems of adolescence.

The problems of adolescence lead him to experience many negative problems which he was able to turn into inspiration for his music. He was once in the Armed Forces and it was the wild side of him that lead to his discharge.

Justin Haigh was able to travel the country and even worked in the Bering Sea between Russia and Alaska. He finally settled in Texas and started to record songs such as “People Like Me” which he describes the people who resemble him and his way of life.

The song titled “Waylon” is a tribute to one of his musical idols the late country singer Waylon Jennings. His debut album also contains songs such as “A Real Good Year For Beer” as well as his dedication to his state of adoption “I Ain’t Leavin”.

The reason for “I Ain’t Leavin” was the love he felt for Texas since his arrival in the Lone Star State. Justin Haigh was surprised by the warm reception and the climate of Texas. While he is touring North Dakota and other states, the emotional tug of his beloved Brady, Texas brings him back to the pace that he calls home.

The debut album recorded by Justin Haigh is worth listening to and buying since it deals with the raw reality of life instead of the sugar coated version issued by the conglomerate artists. His debut album deserves a nine out of ten for the music, creativity, and the way it deals with the reality of life.
