2010 FIFA World Cup: USA 2-1 Turkey In Philly Friendly

The US Soccer Team faced Turkey in its last friendly game at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The game was played before a crowd of more than 55,000 people.

The first half of the game the USA appeared weak with a strong offense by Turkey.  The US was unable to mount a defence and there were problems with communications. Turkey surprised the US by playing mind games in order to score a direct goal. The US did not appear to react to the Turk dominance of the field with their discipline and consistency.

It appeared that the Turks were going to humiliate the USA which was too much too bear. The Turks lead the game with a 1 to 0 at halftime. When the second half began, it appeared that the US Soccer Team underwent a radical change with emphasis on defence, offense, and consistency.

The US Soccer Team came on strong with Robbie Findley,  Jozy Altidore, and Landon Donovan playing a little mind game with the Turks. Findley passed the ball to Donovan and then to Altidore. While one of the Turks [Volkan Demirel] went ahead in the field to see what was happening, Altidore scored an equalizer.

The last event occurred when Landon Donovan passed the ball to Clint Dempsey who scored the second goal before an already demoralized Turkish team. The US Soccer Team was able to win its last friendly game before going to South Africa.

The next game will be against Australia in South Africa on June 5, 2010 before the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It is hoped that the US Soccer Team could improve its communications and be able to mount a strong defence, offense, and consistency in its play.

It is extremely important if the US wants to advance in the 2010 World Cup.
