Brazil faced the Zimbabwe National Team (also known as the Warriors) in their country. The exhibition and friendly game was played in front of more than 50,000 people at the Harare National Sports Stadium in the capital city of Zimbabwe.
The game had historical proportions since it was the first time in the history of Zimbabwe that a team that is not from the African Continent played in the country.
The game was dominated by Brazil from the beginning with the South American giant passing the ball between its players and surprising the spectators, including Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangerai.
Michel Bastos scored the first goal at the end of the first half, followed by two more goals by Robinho and Blumer Elano in the second.
Julio Cesar was injured and replaced by Heurelho Gomes.
The people applauded celebrities such as Kaka and Robinho, since Zimbabwe needed a little happiness.
While Brazil (as predicted) won its friendly game, Zimbabwe emerged as the real winner since sports including football/soccer have a way of healing the wounds of the woes of humanity at least temporarily.
It is hoped that this game can be the beginning of a real healing through sports
