2010 FIFA World Cup: Ghana 1-0 Serbia

The victory of Ghana over Serbia in its debut game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup is an example of divine justice. The victory was well deserved after the draw between South Africa and Mexico as well as the defeat of Nigeria in the hands of Argentina.

While I support the efforts of the US Soccer Team to obtain a 2010 FIFA World Cup, I would support the idea of an African Country winning the World Cup in Africa if the US Soccer Team did not win. My reasons are the following.

The Africans play football/soccer with a burning desire to succeed and with a passion.  I used to hear African Football on my shortwave radio when I lived in Venezuela in the 1970’s. It was great hearing about Senegal, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Ghana as well as the Africa Cup of Nations.

The second reason is that Africa has suffered from political turmoil during colonialism and afterwards. It would be great if Africa had a World Cup title as a way of showing the world that they can do it too.

Congratulations again to Ghana for its victory in the 2010 FIFA World Cup
