The 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa is less than a week old and there have been some surprises. The world was witness to a draw between South Africa and Mexico as well as draw between the USA and England.

The world has also witnessed the surprise victory of Ghana over Serbia as well as Slovenia over Algeria. Germany has just finished wrapping up its game against Australia with a 4 to 0 lead.

Argentina under Maradona has defeated Nigeria in a game which was played in the opinion of the underwriter under dubious circumstances. The roster for Group A leaves all of the countries in that group such as South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, and France with one point each.

Group B has the Republic of Korea [also known as South Korea] and Argentina with three points. Slovenia is leading with three points in Group C with the USA and England trailing. Group D is Ghana and Germany with three points.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is still in its early stages to predict a winner of this historic event. What can be said from these results is that Argentina, South Korea, Ghana, Germany, and Slovenia have a chance to advance to the next round of the event.

If these countries are able to continue on the same path that lead them to victory, the possibility emerges that they can win the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The weakest link remains Slovenia since the USA and England are powerhouses in football/soccer and can present a threat to Slovenia.

While Argentina, Slovenia, South Korea, Ghana, and Germany may win the 2010 FIFA World Cup, they still have to wait for the results of the other groups from E to H. The possibility of Brazil emerging as a front runner followed by the Ivory Coast is big.

Cameroon cannot be underestimated as well in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.  Spain is another top contender to win the 2010 FIFA World Cup given its strong, disciplined team with tenacity to overcome barriers in football.

The presences of many strong countries and the surprises that have ensued have made the predictions for the 2010 FIFA World Cup too close to call. The only conclusion is that Spain, Cameroon, Ghana, Republic of Korea, Brazil, Ivory Coast, and South Africa are the countries with the possibility of winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

If the USA can win all of its games in the face of pressure, it has the possibility of surprising the world with its first World Cup victory.
