Manchetser United Defeats A Resilient Philadelphia Union

Manchester United defeated the Philadelphia Union at the Lincoln Financial Field located in the City of Brotherly Love and in the presence of more than 44,000 people. Gabriel Oberton scored the only goal for United with a right kick directly towards the left side of the goal post.

The match was paired as one between the eminent Premier League team of Wayne Rooney against the recently formed MLS franchise. Manchester United was in second place with 85 points in the Premier League 2009-2010 season while the Philadelphia Union is in seventh place in the 2010 MLS Eastern Conference.

Manchester United may have won the game but it faced a tough Phildelphia Union with both teams measuring each other and not giving in. Both teams attempted to score goals on numerous occasions only to have been repelled by their respective goalies.

The members of both teams would kick the ball at a large distance only to have the ball fly over the goal post. The attempts to pass the ball resulted in the opposing team blocking the attempted passes.

It cannot be denied that both teams were disciplined, consistent, and tenacious in this game since Manchester United appeared afraid of losing and Philadelphia wanted to prove that it is in the big leagues in football/soccer.

The lesson to be learned is that Philadelphia is alive and well to the sound of football/soccer and this game is going to be a conversation piece for many years.

Result: Manchester United 1-0 Philadelphia Union

Place: Lincoln Financial Field at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Attendance: 44,213

MVP: Gabriel Overton
