Cruz Azul forgot the lessons it learned in its game against Pachuca and lost to Toronto in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Torontohad the hometown advantage as well as possession of the ball with the first goal by Martin Saric with his head within the beginning and surprising the goalie for Cruz Azul Yosgart Gutierrez in 3 minutes.
The second goal was scored by Mista with a left foot kick into the goal post to the surprise and shame of Gutierrez in 43 minutes.
Cruz Azul was able to score one goal with Cristian Jimenez because of a free kick but it did not help the team in its quest to advance in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Cruz Azul was unable to react and its whole team fell apart. The team remained disorganized throughout the first half with Hector Enrique Gutierrez receiving the first yellow card in 20 minutes.
The substitutions by Cruz Azul did little to change the outcome of the game and the team left with a whimper. It is no surprise that Enrique Meza (who is coach of Cruz Azul) declared (in an interview when his team defeated Pachuca) that he was not satisfied.
Cruz Azul has to continue to perfect its way of playing football/soccer in order to be consistent. The only alternative would be a mediocre season.
