Emanuel Villa stated in an interview with the Mexican press that Cruz Azul will always be a favorite and that the team should have confidence in itself.

His statement comes in the wake of the humiliation the Mexican team received in Canada from the Toronto FC in the CONCACAF Champions League as well as a loss to Pumas in the Mexican League.

Mr. Villa also made some statements concerning the upcoming game between Cruz Azul and Jaguares in Chiapas.

He said that Cruz Azul may not be the favorites in Chiapas, but they should still internalize strength and confidence in any game. He also challenged the team to improve its play in future games and not to think of the statistics.

The statistics for Cruz Azul consists of four victories, three draws, and three losses. The club has been inconsistent with a victory over Atlante, San Francisco, and a loss to Pumas.

After the loss to Pumas, Cruz Azul recovered to surprise Pachuca before its surprise defeat. I agree with Villa on the need to internalize a victory. I would also like to add that Cruz Azul at times has a tendency to relax during a game.

When a team relaxes during a game, the opponent will take advantage of the lax attitude in order to gain possession and score. Cruz Azul will need more than internal thinking to win its next game against Jaguares and more.
